Minerals of the museum of mineralogy

The Mineralogy Museum of Mines Paris – PSL has existed for more than 200 years, and houses the mineralogical collections of MINES ParisTech. They contain nearly 100,000 samples, 4,000 of which are on display, representing approximately 2,900 mineral species! But the museum is not only a place of conservation, it is also a place of research. Particularly in topics related to the use of rare minerals in new technologies and related exploitation strategies.

In this context, the museum offers for the week of sustainable development (from September 18 to October 8, 2022), a school visit entitled: Hello Earth; “The minerals of the cell phone”, in search of the 40 metals and substances needed to make a cell phone.

Public: 4th and 3rd grade students and high school students – Duration: 1 hour to 1h30

Reservations can be made at musee@minesparis.psl.eu. (Indicate your name, institution, position and cell phone number as well as the class size).
