Nadia MAÏZI responded to questions from the economic daily Les Échos following the organization of COP28 in the United Arab Emirates in Dubai in December 2023.

This interview was conducted in French.

[Translation in English] “There is a very significant disparity in situations among these different countries. Those who rely on fossil fuels have been heard. However, there is a whole aspect that is subcontracted regarding adaptation and climate finance. There are promises of fund transfers from the North to the South, but when it comes to climate justice and particularly financial flows, we are not yet meeting expectations. Yet, the issue of losses and damages is absolutely crucial because it involves the survival of certain peoples first, but also issues of security, migration, for the entire planet. It is a global problem.”

The Transition Institute 1.5 was present at COP28, through the booth of the Chair for Prospective Modeling in the Service of Sustainable Development at Mines Paris – PSL.

Nadia MAÏZI has been the director of The Transition Institute 1.5 since its establishment in 2022.
